Warren County Public Schools - The technology leadership of this medium-sized school system in Bowling Green continues to rely on the expertise and guidance of Byron Songer. His services have been utilized in assisting in the design of a district-wide network, configuration of file servers, information update sessions, and professional development for teachers. He has also been called on to develop a primary assessment application for the District and is engaged in the providing guidance in updating several FileMaker-based applications.

Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont - Situated in the Great Smoky Mountains near Townsend, Tennessee, GSMIT, as it is commonly called, has been connecting people and nature since 1969. GSMIT is a residential environmental education center located just outside Cades Cove. The institute helps teachers, students, parents, vacationers and photographers learn about stewardship and the cultural and natural history of the Smokies through their in-depth education programs including weekend hikes, Elderhostel programs, family camping programs, and 3- and 5-day school group programs. When it came time to expand on their use of computer technology they called on Songer Consulting. GSMIT moved to Mac OS X Server from another server environment and began the use of a complete data management system also running from the server on top of FileMaker Server 9. The customized solution handles the program registration process for individuals and groups while providing donor management capabilities on a par with systems costing much more.

HTCC, Inc. - Located in Elizabethtown, HTCC is the parent corporation for several businesses begun by a retired Army recruiter. HTCC depends on their Macintosh computers and a private, wireless network handle the affairs of doing business which includes handling payroll and other bookkeeping procedures.

Kentuckian Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
- Louisville's newest specialist in pediatric ophthalmology uses Macintosh computers in his office. For patient billing, scheduling and claims management Dr. Howell selected MacPractice because he, himself, has found that Mac OS X meets his needs and the MacBook Pro does what he wants. Since his accounting firm preferred Peachtree for managing accounts payable, the office uses Parallels and Windows XP to satisfy that need while running on one of three iMac computers.

Aquatic Access - Aquatic Access manufactures a lift device that meets the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Aquatic Access is the home of the original IGAT line of pool lifts. Aquatic Access is another one of those businesses that depends on a balanced mix of computers running either Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows. At the heart of their environment is and Intel-based Mac OS X Server providing file services to the administrators who depend on Managing Your Own Business and the engineers that use AutoCAD on a daily basis. By the way, Aquatic Access has frequently provided lift equipment for ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

St. Edward School
- Located in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, St. Edward School provides a quality, private education to students in grades 1 through 8. The school is quite unique in that it is heavily Mac based. They use iMacs, eMacs and iBooks connected to Xserves and Apple’s Open Directory structure to provide "roaming profiles" for students. St. Edward also depends on PowerSchool, a web-based student information system, to support real-time information for students, parents and teachers.

Articulations Graphic Design - Specializing with work with non-profit organizations, the customer base of Articulations includes the St. James Court Art Show and the Kentucky Baptist Convention. This firm specializes producing work for print and promotion and depends on the Macintosh platform using Quark and Adobe applications for mission-critical work.

Town of Georgetown - Following a model established by another Indiana town, the council of this small community decided to add municipal wireless internet access as a utility service. The reason? Many residents in the rural area around the town had no high-speed options; neither cable nor DSL. After several weeks of struggling to get the Georgetown Wireless High-Speed Internet Zone to a functional and manageable state Songer Consulting was called in to provide leadership and assistance. Services provided included development of a customized FileMaker solution, installation and configuration of a MySQL/Canopy Prizm management system, consultation on tower placement, and work in the field with Georgetown's installers.

James Still Learning Center - Through its James Still Learning Center for children with dyslexic characteristics, the Hindman Settlement School provides an emphasis on serving students whose needs are not being met through the traditional school system. The Center includes an after-school program, a summer tutorial program and a full-time school for elementary students. It has served more than 2,000 students and their parents since its inception. JSLC is located in the southeastern portion of Kentucky in the small town of Hindman.

American Mini Storage - Located in Crestwood, Kentucky near I-71, this small business has been using Macintosh systems since 1989 when the owner purchased a Macintosh IIcx after careful consideration and analysis. A customized FileMaker database solution is used handle a variety tasks related to the self-storage business. In addition to tracking the rental units on-site, a similar solution is used to manage billing for Maple Springs Apartments and other business properties in the immediate area.
